The Blue Sea Systems SMS 120/240V AC ELCI 50A panel enclosure is an electrical distribution solution designed for marine AC systems. It integrates a 50-ampere Earth Leakage Circuit Interrupter (ELCI) main breaker, meeting the safety requirements of ABYC E-11, which has been mandatory since January 1, 2013 for new installations.
Design and Technical Specifications
This panel is specifically sized for compact integration with external dimensions of 192 mm (H) x 188 mm (W) x 120 mm (D) and a mounting box of 152 mm (H) x 152 mm (W) x 102 mm (D). It operates at 120/240V AC and is equipped with a 50A ELCI main breaker. A blank circuit position is included to allow future customization with Carling Technologies™ series A and C circuit breakers, including additional ELCI main breakers.
Durability and Compliance
The enclosure is constructed with a fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate housing and base, ensuring resistance to marine environments. The cover fasteners are 10-32 stainless steel, and the mounting hardware is 6 mm (#12) stainless steel for secure attachment. The panel features a seamless, overmolded PUR gasket for enhanced protection. It is rated IP66 and NEMA 4x, certifying its resistance to water and dust. It is also RoHS compliant and UL 508 listed. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F).
Features and Installation
Key features include a transparent cover for easy visibility of breaker status. The overlapping cover design enhances gasket robustness and protection. Installation is simplified by a removable 316 stainless steel hinge pin for clear access. A stainless steel latch secures the cover without compromising enclosure integrity. Integrated LEDs provide backlighting and breaker activation indication. The panel ships with waterproof gland fittings and stainless steel mounting hardware.
