Detailed description
The FURUNO CNT400 (VSAT) coaxial cable is a connectivity solution designed for VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) applications. This cable is identified as a CommScope CNT-400 model, recognized for its radio frequency (RF) performance and low signal loss. It is specifically suited for use with VSAT Intellian antenna systems, including the 45 cm, 65 cm, V60E, V85NX, V100NX, and V150NX models.
Technical Specifications and Construction
This coaxial cable has a nominal impedance of 50 Ohm and supports a frequency range of 30 to 6000 MHz (6 GHz), with a maximum frequency of 16.20 GHz. The inner conductor is made of solid copper-clad aluminum wire, while the dielectric is foamed polyethylene (PE). The outer shielding consists of an aluminum foil shield and a tinned copper braid, providing a braid coverage of 86% to 90% and a shielding effectiveness greater than 90 dB. The outer diameter of the jacket is approximately 10.29 mm (0.405 inches). The jacket is typically black halogen-free PE, though other options are available. Its capacitance is 78.0 pF/m, and its propagation velocity is 85%.
Performance and Versatility
The CNT400 is a flexible RF coaxial cable characterized by low loss and high performance. It is designed for various applications, including general use, riser installations, plenums, and direct burial for outdoor/underground applications. Its robust construction, incorporating copper, aluminum, and polyethylene, provides electrical, mechanical, and environmental resistance. It is compatible with industry-standard connectors and tools and can operate within a temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. The DC resistance of the inner conductor ranges from 4.330 to 4.690 ohms/km, and that of the outer conductor is 5.610 ohms/km. It supports a DC test voltage of 2500 V and a peak power of 16.0 kW. Its minimum bending radius (single) is 25.40 mm (1.00 inch).
