The Furuno NMEA2000 Micro T-connector (OD-NAT-MM1MF1MF1001) is a component for establishing and extending marine electronic networks compliant with NMEA 2000 standards. This connector is designed for use with lightweight backbone cables in a marine environment.
Construction and Technical Specifications
This NMEA 2000 Micro T-connector features an M/F/F configuration, with one male connector and two female connectors. The side female connectors are intended for backbone construction, while the central female connector allows connection of a device via a drop cable. It is a 5-pin connector with the following functions:
- Pin 1: Shield (bare)
- Pin 2: NET-S (positive power supply, +V, red)
- Pin 3: NET-C (power ground, -V, black)
- Pin 4: NET-H (CAN-H, white)
- Pin 5: NET-L (CAN-L, blue)
The Micro connectors support a current of 4A and operate within a voltage range of 9-16V DC, with a nominal voltage of 12V DC, in accordance with NMEA 2000 network requirements. The connector is certified and ensures compatibility with other NMEA 2000 devices.
Durability and Network Integration
The Furuno NMEA2000 Micro T-connector design incorporates materials suitable for marine environments. It has an IP67-68 protection rating, ensuring protection against temporary immersion, whether mated or unmated. The contacts are made of copper alloy with gold plating, and the contact carrier is made of PA, ensuring a secure connection. The operating temperature range for the receptacle extends from -40°C to 85°C. This connector is essential for building the backbone of a CAN bus network, allowing connection of individual devices via drop cables. It supports a maximum individual drop cable length of 6 meters, with a total drop cable length not exceeding 78 meters per backbone. The backbone itself can reach 100 meters in length with lightweight cables (micro/mini) and can accommodate up to 50 devices on a single backbone.
