Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for modern marine navigation, the FURUNO DRS4D-NXT is a compact Doppler radar without a magnetron, featuring a 25 W output power equivalent to a 4 kW magnetron radar. It offers a maximum range of 48 nautical miles and a resolution of 20 meters. Its 61 cm (24-inch) radome incorporates solid-state technology for instant start-up and optimized power consumption, operating on a 12 to 24 V DC supply.
Advanced features for safety and performance
The DRS4D-NXT integrates exclusive FURUNO functions to enhance situational awareness. The Target Analyzer™ automatically changes the color of radar echoes: stationary or receding targets are displayed in green, while potentially dangerous targets approaching your vessel appear in red. Fast Target Tracking™ and Auto Target Acquire allow tracking of up to 100 targets simultaneously within a 3 NM radius, displaying their speed and heading vectors within seconds.
FURUNO’s exclusive RezBoost™ Beam Sharpening technology improves radar image resolution, delivering sharpness equivalent to a 2° beamwidth typically achieved with larger open-array antennas. This enables more detailed target detection and reduced footprint. For fishermen, Bird Mode automatically adjusts gain and sea clutter settings to optimize bird visibility, indicating fish aggregation zones. In adverse weather conditions, Rain Mode identifies targets obscured by rain, displaying rain echoes in blue.
Installation and compatibility
The DRS4D-NXT radar is designed for simplified installation, requiring no opening of the radome or external power unit. It weighs 7.3 kg and features IP56 waterproofing. The Smart-Connector cable ensures backward compatibility with existing DRS cabling installations. This system is compatible with FURUNO NavNet TZtouch, TZtouch2, and TZtouch3 multifunction displays, subject to software updates. Antenna rotation speed is adjustable to 24, 36, or 48 RPM, or fixed at 24 RPM in dual-range mode.
