The FURUNO NX900 is a sophisticated Navtex receiver designed for automatic reception and display of Maritime Safety Information (MSI). It features a 5.7-inch TFT color LCD screen with improved visibility and wide viewing angles. This unit complies with IMO resolutions (A.694(17), MSC.148(77), MSC.302(87)) and IEC test standards (61097-6 Ed. 2.0, 60945 Ed. 3.0/Ed. 4.0), as well as IACS UR E27, certifying its reliability for marine environments.
Features and technical performance
The NX900 provides simultaneous reception on three frequencies: 518 kHz for international messages, 490 kHz for local and national information, and 4209.5 kHz for HF Navtex. With a sensitivity of -107 dBm and an error rate below 4%, it ensures clear reception of messages. The unit includes non-volatile memory capable of storing 200 messages, each averaging 500 characters, preserving critical data.
Connectivity and information management
The FURUNO NX900 offers connectivity via two IN/OUT serial ports (IEC61162-1 Ed. 5, 4800 bps), an Ethernet LAN port (100base-TX Auto MDI/MDIX, IEC61162-450 Ed.2), and an RS-232C port for an optional printer. A dry contact port is also available for alerts. The system automatically processes Maritime Safety Information, including navigation warnings, weather warnings, and Search and Rescue (SAR) information, with an audible alarm and immediate display of SAR messages. The user interface allows viewing all received messages with distinct icons for read/unread status and category filtering. A built-in self-test function supports maintenance. The main unit operates on 12 to 24 V DC power and draws between 0.7 and 0.35 A. The main housing is rated IP20, while the antenna unit is IP56.
