Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for accurate depth and temperature readings, the AIRMAR® B60 through-hull transducer from Garmin with a 20° tilt integrates Tilted Element™ technology. This design compensates for the keel angle of fiberglass or wooden hulls, ensuring a vertical sonar beam without requiring an external fairing block. This dual-frequency 600W transducer is a solution for recreational boaters seeking reliable data for navigation and fishing.
Technical specifications
The AIRMAR® B60 transducer is a through-hull model with a fixed 20° tilted element, suitable for keel angles between 16° and 24°. It operates on two frequencies: 50 kHz and 200 kHz, with an RMS power of 600 W. At 50 kHz, it offers a maximum depth of 366 meters (1200 feet) and a beam angle of 45°. At 200 kHz, the maximum depth is 213 meters (700 feet) with a narrower 12° beam. It provides fast-response depth and water temperature readings.
The housing is made of bronze, compatible with fiberglass or wooden hulls (not suitable for metal hulls). The transducer comes with a 10-meter cable (approximately 30-33 feet) and typically features an 8-pin Garmin connector. For installation, a 60 mm hole (2 3/8 inches) is required, and the usable shaft length is 68.5 mm (2.70 inches). Its weight is 1.4 kg (3 lbs).
Design and applications
The low-profile design of the AIRMAR® B60 transducer minimizes drag, protruding only 5 mm (3/16 inch) outside the hull, which does not affect boat performance. Its dual-band versatility provides a wide beam for tracking seabeds in deep waters (50 kHz) and a narrower beam for targeted details in shallower waters (200 kHz). The integrated temperature sensor delivers accurate and rapid readings. Its bronze construction ensures corrosion resistance in marine environments. This transducer is suitable for boats up to 8 meters (26 feet) and integrates with compatible Garmin GPS/echo sounder units, making it ideal for center-console boats and trailerable boats.
