Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin AIRMAR® SS60 through-hull transducer (20° tilt) is designed for accurate marine depth and temperature sensing. This model is optimized for hulls with a deadrise angle between 16° and 24°, thanks to its 20° tilted ceramic element that ensures a vertical beam without the need for a fairing block.
Detailed technical specifications
Made of stainless steel, the SS60 transducer is built to withstand harsh marine environments. It operates on dual frequencies of 50/200 kHz with a 600 W RMS transmit power. At 50 kHz, the beam angle is 45° with a maximum depth of 353 to 366 meters. At 200 kHz, the beam angle is 12° with a maximum depth of 206 to 213 meters. The overall depth range is 244 to 366 meters (800 to 1,200 feet). It also includes a temperature sensor.
Tilted Element™ technology and design
The Tilted Element™ technology corrects hull angle, providing more accurate depth readings. Its low-profile design minimizes drag, with only about 5 mm (3/16") protruding from the hull, preserving boat performance. The SS60 is compatible with Garmin fishfinders featuring an 8-pin connector and requires an adapter cable for 6-pin systems. Recommended for fiberglass and wooden hulls.
Installation and versatility
This through-hull transducer is designed for flush-mount installation and comes with full instructions. Its rugged and watertight design makes it suitable for sportfishing boats, center consoles, and commercial vessels up to 7.6 meters (25 feet). User tests have reported up to a 30% improvement in fish detection compared to standard transducers. This model is notably used by the U.S. Coast Guard for its performance and reliability.
