Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for inshore and offshore anglers, the Garmin GT23M-TM transducer is a plastic rear-mount transducer integrating traditional CHIRP and CHIRP ClearVü sonar technologies. This 8-pin model offers a versatile solution for detailed underwater detection, with depth and water temperature tracking capabilities.
Advanced Sonar Performance
The Garmin GT23M-TM uses a traditional mid-band CHIRP sonar operating on a frequency range of 80 to 160 kHz with 600 W power. This configuration delivers well-defined fish arches and superior target separation up to a maximum depth of 549 meters (1,800 feet), with a beam angle ranging from 24° to 13°. In addition, the CHIRP ClearVü scanning sonar operates on frequencies of 260/455 kHz (specifically 245-275 kHz and 445-465 kHz) with 500 W power, providing detailed images of underwater structures down to 305 meters (1,000 feet) depth, with beams of 2.0°x51° at 260 kHz and 1.4°x29° at 455 kHz. The transducer cable measures 9.1 meters (30 feet).
Positioning and Compatibility
The GT23M-TM transducer positions itself as a robust intermediate option in Garmin’s transducer range. Unlike traditional models, it adds ClearVü capability for improved structure visualization. It differs from more advanced and costly SideVü or LiveScope™ transducers, which offer side-scanning or real-time imaging. Compared to thru-hull transducers that require professional installation and are often preferred for high speeds or complex hulls, the GT23M-TM is simpler to install on the transom. It is compatible with transom angles from 0° to 70° and works with all hull materials. It is particularly suited to trailerable boats and delivers optimal results at speeds below 34 mph in waters with minimal turbulence. The kit includes the transom mount, mounting hardware, and necessary documentation.
