Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding recreational boaters, the Garmin GT34UHD-TH transom-mount sonar offers ClearVü and SideVü Ultra High Definition scanning capabilities. This transducer delivers detailed images of structure and fish below and to the sides of the vessel, integrating directly with Garmin 8600xsv and ECHOMAP Ultra displays, or via the GCV™ 20 sounder module for other compatible devices.
Ultra High Definition Sonar Performance
The GT34UHD-TH operates at specific frequencies for enhanced image clarity. The ClearVü Ultra High Definition mode uses a CHIRP range of 760–880 kHz (nominally 800 kHz) with 500 W power, providing a maximum depth of 200 feet. Its 0.76° x 46° beam at 800 kHz, featuring a downward-facing element, concentrates more power on targets for precise detection below the boat. In comparison, Garmin GT54UHD-TM or GT56UHD-TM transducers, while high-performing, are transom-mount models more susceptible to turbulence than this through-hull version.
SideVü Scanning for Optimal Side View
For side exploration, the SideVü Ultra High Definition of the Garmin GT34UHD-TH operates on a CHIRP range of 1,060–1,170 kHz (nominally 1,200 kHz). It allows visualization of structure and fish up to 125 feet on each side (250 feet total) with a 0.44° x 55° beam, all at a maximum depth of 30 feet. This level of detail is comparable to the performance of Garmin’s high-end PS series transducers, but in a SideVü scanning format for extended side coverage. The transducer also provides depth and temperature data and includes a 20-foot cable with a 12-pin connector.
Installation and Compatibility
The Garmin GT34UHD-TH transducer is a through-hull solution. It is recommended for hulls with a deadrise angle up to 5° for direct installation but can be installed on angles up to 25° using a fairing block. This versatility sets it apart from in-hull transducers, which are limited to solid fiberglass hulls and typically do not provide temperature data. Installation requires hull penetration and the use of included anti-rotation bolts, ensuring a stable and durable mount. A Garmin display software update is required when installing this device to ensure optimal performance.
