The Garmin LUX Flood Light 18" (part number 010-04461-00), developed with Lumishore technology, is designed for intensive and versatile lighting in marine environments. This luminaire combines a CRGBW color output (cool white, red, green, blue, warm white) with an intensity of 7,500 lumens, positioning it as an advanced lighting solution for decks, cockpits, or general onboard safety. It stands out from traditional floodlights by offering a full light spectrum and adjustable white light.
Lighting performance and versatility
Equipped with 5-channel LEDs (warm white, cool white, red, green, blue), the LUX Flood Light 18" provides color flexibility and adjustable white temperatures (from 2700 K to 6500 K). Its ultra-wide oval beam of 70° to 90° ensures uniform coverage and homogeneous color diffusion, unlike narrower-beam floodlights that can create shadow zones. Powered by 10-31 VDC, it draws a maximum of 9.2 A at 12 V and 4.6 A at 24 V, with an average power consumption of 110 W. This luminous performance is comparable to high-end lighting systems from competitors such as Raymarine or Simrad but differentiates itself through deep integration into the Garmin Lumishore LUX ecosystem.
Control and system integration
The Garmin LUX Flood Light 18" integrates with the LUX intelligent lighting system. It can be controlled via a compatible multifunction display (MFD), a dedicated Lumishore screen, a smart device, or a momentary switch. For full control via MFD, Lumishore screen, or smart device, the EOS-LUX control hub is required. Using a simple momentary switch requires a LUX control module. This modular architecture allows precise control of CRGBW, intensity adjustments, white balance, as well as activation of predefined scenes and dynamic effects (strobe, sweep, color cycle, music synchronization). The LUX system is scalable up to 32 lighting zones and is compatible with 12 V or 24 V systems.
Design and installation
Constructed with a powder-coated aluminum body and a frosted lens, this floodlight is designed to withstand demanding marine environments. Its water and dust protection is rated IP68. Measuring 15.49" x 2.08" x 2.86" with a low-profile articulated design, it is suitable for various outdoor installations, including cabin roofs, T-tops, arches, sterns, and radar pedestals. Electrical installation is simplified by a 3-wire connection, though the use of a waterproof cable gland is recommended for cable penetration. Installation is secured with M6 bolts, nylon insert nuts, and washers (provided), with a tightening torque of 5 Nm.
