Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin Panoptix™ PS22-IF removable lens is a key component designed to optimize the performance of the Panoptix PS22-IF transducer, specifically for ice fishing. This accessory allows quick adjustment of the sonar beam to match the angler’s detection needs. The Panoptix PS22-IF transducer is renowned for its real-time sonar capabilities, offering LiveVü™ Forward and LiveVü™ Down modes, which respectively enable locating fish schools up to 30 meters (100 feet) ahead and observing fish reactions beneath the ice hole.
Sonar Beam Adaptability
Integrating this removable lens with the Panoptix PS22-IF transducer provides significant flexibility. With the lens installed, the transducer emits a narrow 12° x 120° beam, ideal for targeted and precise fish detection. When the lens is removed, the beam widens to 57° x 120°, which is particularly useful for initial scouting and scanning a larger area before focusing on a fishing spot. This ability to change the beam angle without swapping transducers enhances ice fishing efficiency, allowing users to adapt their detection strategy in real time.
Integration and Functionality for Ice Fishing
The lens design aligns with the ultra-portable approach of the PS22-IF transducer, which features an innovative mounting and rotation system. While the lens is a separate component, it directly contributes to the versatility of the PS22-IF system for "hole hopping" and mobile fishing setups. This lens exemplifies Garmin’s commitment to modular solutions for its equipment, enabling users to tailor the sonar’s technical features to specific use cases. It complements the advanced features of the PS22-IF, which include a 48 W transmission power and a maximum depth of 90 meters, all compatible with the Garmin Marine Network™.
