When choosing the mounting location, consider the following points:

The device must be mounted in an accessible location. Avoid mounting it near fuel tanks or bilge areas where combustible vapors could accumulate. Choose a location with access to a common ground for other electronic devices. When controlling LED speakers, the controller must be mounted within 5 meters (16 feet 4 inches) of the speakers. The device must not be submerged. Mount the device on a flat, vertical mounting surface, with the wiring harness connectors pointing downward. Clean the mounting surface of any dirt, debris, wax, or coating. Select a location away from sources that could interfere with the device's operation, such as strong electromagnetic fields, power cables, and electric motors.

To mount the module:

With the cable harness connectors pointing downward, hold the device on a flat, vertical mounting surface and mark the pilot hole locations.
Remove the device from the mounting surface.
Using a 2 mm (3/32 in) drill bit, drill the pilot holes.
Secure the included pan head screws into the pilot holes.
Attach the device to the mounting surface by tightening the screws until snug. Do not overtighten the screws, as this may damage the device housing.
Do not use the module as a template when drilling mounting holes and do not apply grease or lubricant to the screws.

The power supply voltage of the LED control module must match the voltage of the LED lighting it controls (12 Vdc or 24 Vdc). The wiring from the power source to the positive wire of the power harness must pass through an inline circuit breaker or fuse (not included) as close as possible to the power source. Failing to install an inline circuit breaker or fuse can result in a fire hazard in the event of a short circuit.

The maximum extension length of the power cable for the LC102 module depends on the power source:

For a 12 Vdc power source: up to 7.5 meters (24 feet 7 inches). For a 24 Vdc power source: up to 15 meters (49 feet 2 inches). All extensions must use marine-grade 16 AWG (1.3 mm²) wire.

You can connect a normally open momentary switch (not included) to the Garmin Spectra LED control module to turn all connected LED lights on and off without using a chartplotter, stereo, or app. To do this, connect the pink and black wires of the power cable harness to the same ground connection as the negative wire, via the momentary switch.

To wire the LED lights to the module:

Disconnect the power supply from the Garmin Spectra LED control module before making any connections to prevent accidental short circuits. Use the wiring harnesses provided with the module.
