Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding sailors, the Garmin GNX™ 52 wireless sailing pack (SKU: 010-01616-40) is an integrated instrument solution providing comprehensive and accurate wind and water data. This pack combines wireless flexibility with the reliability of an NMEA 2000 network, making it ideal for sailboats of all sizes.
A complete instrument suite for navigation
The core of this pack consists of the GNX Wind and GNX 20 displays. The GNX Wind display, measuring 110 x 115 x 30 mm with an 83 x 60 mm monochrome LCD screen (101.6 mm diagonal), offers high visibility thanks to its bonded glass and customizable backlight. It simultaneously displays two data fields and a digital wind rose, enabling clear reading of true and apparent wind data, heading, and boat speed. The GNX 20, with identical dimensions and display characteristics, is dedicated to displaying depth, boat speed, water temperature, and over 50 other marine parameters, with 36 mm digits for optimal readability. Both instruments are NMEA 2000 certified, ensuring easy integration with your existing or new onboard network. Their power consumption is optimized for sailboats, at just 0.35 W during the day (without backlight) and 0.4 W at night (medium backlight).
High-precision sensors for enhanced accuracy
The GNX™ 52 pack integrates two key transducers for precise data collection. The gWind™ Wireless 2 eliminates the need for cumbersome wiring through the mast, transmitting wind data via ANT® connectivity directly to the GNX Wind display or a compatible Garmin GPSMAP chartplotter. This sensor uses Nexus® dual-wing technology and a 3-blade propeller to ensure stable and accurate measurement of wind speed and angle, even in light winds. Its wireless range is suitable for masts up to 15 meters tall. Complementing this, the Airmar® DST810 intelligent through-hull transducer provides depth data (up to 100 meters), water speed (5 Hz fast output), and temperature. It also includes attitude detection for heel/trim and pitch/roll, offering valuable information for optimizing sailing performance. Its Bluetooth® connectivity allows wireless calibration via the Airmar Cast™ app.
Integration and durability
The entire system is designed for plug-and-play installation via the NMEA 2000 network, simplifying setup. The GNX Wind and GNX 20 displays are rated IPX7 for water resistance, while the gWind Wireless 2 is rated IPX6 (protected against heavy seas), ensuring durability in marine environments. The operating temperature range is from -15°C to 70°C. This pack is positioned as a mid-range, complete solution, offering a wireless alternative to traditional wired systems while providing advanced data, including boat attitude, which is not found in basic instrument packs. It integrates seamlessly with the Garmin ecosystem, such as the quatix® 3 smartwatches via ANT® for wind data display on the wrist.
