The LCJ CAPTEURS CV7-BARO is an ultrasonic wind transducer/vane anemometer designed for apparent wind measurement, integrating a barometric sensor for comprehensive meteorological data. This sensor features no moving mechanical parts, providing robustness and resistance to wear, ensuring extended longevity and stable sensitivity even in light winds. Its angled arm is specifically designed for masthead installation on sailboats, allowing coexistence with other equipment such as antennas and navigation lights.
Technical performance and connectivity
Powered by 12V DC, the CV7-BARO offers a wind speed measurement range of 0.25 to 80 knots with a sensitivity of 0.25 knots. Wind angle is measured from 0 to 359 degrees with a sensitivity of +/- 1 degree. It also integrates air temperature measurement from -15°C to +55°C (no icing) with a sensitivity of +/- 1°C, and barometric pressure measurement from 0.900 to 1.100 bar with a resolution of 0.001 bar. The sensor is compensated for leeway and remains unaffected by gyroscopic effects, ensuring accurate readings even during active sailing.
Integration and configuration
The CV7-BARO uses an NMEA 0183® output at 4800 baud, compatible with a wide range of marine equipment (Furuno, Garmin, NKE, AdvanSea, Simrad) and navigation software (MaxSea, OpenCPN, ScanNav). It transmits NMEA 0183® sentences IIMWV (wind angle and speed), WIXDR (air temperature) and WIMDA (atmospheric pressure), as well as manufacturer data PLCJ and PLCJE. Wiring is via 4 wires (red for +12V DC, blue for 0V, yellow for NMEA 0183 + output, green for NMEA 0183 - output). Its parameters, including angle correction, smoothing constants, speed and temperature units, can be configured via PC software. It weighs 0.20 kg for the sensor head and 0.23 kg with its bracket and clamp, and its BARO3 junction box measures 68 x 58 x 22 mm. A flashing LED indicator signals its operating status. The product complies with the European CE standard.
