Detailed description
Detailed description
The Lumishore ORA THX204 is a unique thru-hull underwater LED light distributed by Garmin, designed to provide intense and reliable white lighting underwater. With its 12 high-power 10 W LEDs, it delivers 6,100 lumens and a 110° ultra-wide beam, creating a halo effect around the vessel. This model is positioned as a high-performance underwater lighting solution for users seeking the simplicity and efficiency of white light, as opposed to more complex multicolor systems like Lumishore’s Eclipse series or other competing ranges.
Design and Technical Specifications
Operating on 12 V or 24 V DC (10.5 to 31 VDC range), the ORA THX204 draws a maximum of 4.9 A at 12 V and 2.4 A at 24 V, with an average power of 59 W. The typical LED lifespan exceeds 50,000 hours, ensuring long-term use. The construction features a marine-grade bronze body and a borosilicate glass lens, providing IP68 water and dust resistance essential for marine environments. These high-quality materials distinguish it from options with plastic or aluminum bodies less resistant to salt corrosion.
Installation and Control
Installation of the ORA THX204 is simplified thanks to its thru-hull design and 2-wire connection, integrating the driver directly into the unit, eliminating the need for external boxes. It requires a 16.5 mm (0.65") mounting hole and offers a flush profile of just 18 mm (0.7") once installed. The light can be mounted on the transom, hull sides, or boat bottom, at a recommended depth of 100 to 300 mm below the minimum waterline. It is controllable via a simple standard on/off switch. For non-conductive hulls, a ground connection is required (via the housing connection). This product is not suitable for conductive hulls, including wood and fiberglass. Lumishore offers a 3-year warranty on this product, underscoring its commitment to quality and durability, similar to GPSMAP chartplotters or Fantom radars from the brand, which also benefit from extended warranties on their marine components.
