Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt DC Master DC/DC 24/12-12 isolated converter (part number 81500300) is designed to provide stable 12 V power to your equipment from a 24 V battery bank while ensuring galvanic isolation between the input and output circuits. This isolation is critical to protect sensitive devices (such as navigation instruments, radios, or computers) from electromagnetic interference and ground loops. With a continuous current of 12 A and a nominal power of 164 W, it can handle current spikes up to 18 A for 2 minutes, making it suitable for starting certain equipment.
Strategic positioning within the DC Master range
This 24/12-12 A isolated model sits in the mid-range of Mastervolt’s isolated converters. It is more powerful than the 24/12-3 A (81500100, 41 W) and 24/12-6 A (81500200, 82 W) models but less powerful than the 24/12-24 A (81500350, 326 W). Its compact dimensions (167 x 87 x 50 mm) and weight of 590 g make it easy to install in confined spaces. Unlike the equivalent non-isolated model (81400300), it provides galvanic isolation, making it compatible with installations where the negative is not grounded, and eliminates interference risks. Its idle consumption (< 15 mA) is very low, making it suitable for applications where the service battery is continuously under load.
Installation and durability
The converter comes with a clip-on mounting bracket, screws, and faston terminals, simplifying installation. Its anodized aluminum and polycarbonate housing provides IP53 protection against water splashes and dust. It includes an input-side fuse (to be installed near the battery) and supports an ambient temperature range of -25 °C to 80 °C, with linear derating above 30 °C. Like all DC Master converters, it is CE and E-mark certified (e11 020894, e13 023114), ensuring compliance for marine and vehicle use.
