Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt Mass 48/50 230V battery charger is designed for demanding professional, semi-professional, and recreational applications. It provides a stable, ripple-free 48 V power supply even without batteries and can charge fully depleted batteries.
Technical specifications
This charger delivers a total charge current of 50 A at 57 V. It supports a battery capacity range of 100 to 500 Ah, extendable to 80 to 1000 Ah or more. The nominal input is 230 V (range 180–265 V) at 50/60 Hz. It uses an automatic 3-stage+ IUoUo charging characteristic suitable for Gel, AGM, Wet, and Lithium Ion batteries. Charge voltages include 57 V in Bulk and Absorption, 53 V in Float for wet batteries, and 55.2 V in Float for Gel/AGM batteries.
Design and integration
With dimensions of 420 x 318 x 130 mm and a weight of 7.7 kg, it features a lightweight housing made of stainless steel and anodized aluminum, designed to withstand intense vibrations and shocks. Internal components are coated to prevent moisture or condensation damage, ensuring extended service life. The charger is IP23 certified and operates in an ambient temperature range of -25 °C to 80 °C, with power derating above 45 °C. It includes a Vario fan for cooling and offers protection against overheating, overcharging, short circuits, and high/low battery voltages. Its current control function helps prevent fuse tripping in case of voltage drops.
Connectivity and reliability
The Mastervolt Mass 48/50 230V comes with a battery temperature sensor. It is MasterBus compatible, enabling centralized monitoring, configuration, and control locally or remotely via a network. Multiple chargers can be connected in parallel to increase charge capacity. The design complies with SOLAS directives for GMDSS applications, with a separate GMDSS remote control panel available. The charger has a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 180,000 hours in continuous full-load operation.
