Detailed description
Detailed description
The NEP-2 network expansion port (part number 000-10029-001) from Navico is a marine-grade Ethernet switch designed to centralize and distribute high-speed data. Compatible with multifunction displays and modules from Simrad, Lowrance, and B&G, this hub allows simultaneous connection of multiple bandwidth-intensive devices such as radars, fishfinder modules, or shared mapping systems where a standard NMEA 2000 network would be technically insufficient.
Gigabit performance and connectivity
Based on the latest network architecture specifications in the range, this switch features 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports using M12 GbE connectors with X-coding, capable of supporting Gigabit transfer speeds. It remains fully backward compatible with older-generation devices equipped with the NEP-2’s typical yellow 5-pin Ethernet connectors via the use of specific adapters. Its versatile power supply tolerates a wide 10.4 to 31.2 V DC range (compatible with 12 V and 24 V systems), with an extremely low maximum power consumption capped at 2.5 W (0.18 A at 13.8 V DC).
Marine-grade design and installation
Weighing just 0.48 kg, its compact housing meets IPX6 and IPX7 waterproofing standards, ensuring optimal resistance in harsh marine environments, with an operating temperature range from -15 °C to 55 °C. Integrated LED indicators diagnose power status (green when operating, orange in standby, or red in case of overvoltage) and the activity of each network port. The device also maintains a 0.5-meter compass-safe distance to prevent magnetic interference.
