Detailed description
Detailed description
The Navico S5100 sonar module is an advanced solution for optimizing fish detection capabilities, specifically designed for offshore sportfishing. It stands out with the integration of three fully independent CHIRP channels, a first for a Navico sonar module, enabling simultaneous and comprehensive underwater visualization across multiple depth ranges. This unique architecture ensures consistent coverage and sustained performance, even when exploring different water layers.
High-Resolution CHIRP Sonar Technology
The S5100 uses swept-frequency CHIRP pulse technology, delivering improved target resolution and superior noise rejection. It provides clear, interference-free images of the entire water column, facilitating the detection of small or grouped fish, the identification of thermoclines, and precise targeting of specific depths. CHIRP frequencies are adjustable from 28 to 250 kHz, and the module is compatible with Airmar CHIRP wide-angle transducers, optimizing coverage of the upper water column and shallow-water performance. The module supports a maximum depth of 3,000 meters (10,000 feet), depending on the transducer used.
Connectivity and System Integration
This sonar module functions as a network device, ensuring extensive compatibility with Simrad multifunction displays, NSO evo2 systems, and S2000 series sounders. It features three 9-pin transducer connectors for "plug-and-play" transducer installation and a 100 Mbps Ethernet port for seamless integration into the onboard network. Users can connect up to three single-channel transducers or a combination of one dual-channel and one single-channel transducer, offering flexible configuration to optimize sonar coverage. Power is supplied at 9 to 32 V DC, with a maximum consumption of 85 W. The S5100 is designed to withstand demanding marine environments, with an operating temperature range of -15 °C to +55 °C and an IPx5 waterproof rating. It weighs 4.7 kg and measures 340 mm (W) x 100 mm (H) x 250 mm (D) excluding connectors, with a 1.8 m compass-safe distance.
