Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine A06082 adapter is a wiring component designed to ensure interoperability between Raymarine’s SeaTalk NG data bus systems and NMEA2000 (DeviceNet) networks. It enables the connection of devices with a male SeaTalk NG interface to NMEA2000 equipment or backbone via a female DeviceNet connection.
Connectivity and compatibility
Raymarine’s SeaTalk NG system, introduced with products such as the ST70 instruments, uses a proprietary interconnect bus that is compatible with the NMEA2000 standard through specific adapter cables. The A06082 adapter implements this compatibility by providing a direct physical link. While SeaTalk NG is Raymarine’s communication standard, DeviceNet is a registered trademark of the Open DeviceNet Vendor Association Inc. and forms the physical basis of the NMEA2000 protocol. This adapter is therefore essential for mixed installations integrating Raymarine products and other NMEA2000 equipment.
SeaTalk NG system architecture
A SeaTalk NG network consists of a main backbone terminated by two terminations, to which Raymarine products are connected via spur cables. SeaTalk NG cables and connectors are color-coded (blue for the backbone, white for spurs) to simplify installation and reduce the risk of incorrect connections. This adapter functions as a spur, allowing an NMEA2000 device to operate as a node on the SeaTalk NG network, or conversely, to connect a SeaTalk NG segment to an existing NMEA2000 network. It is important to note that network terminations are mandatory for correct operation of the SeaTalk NG system, as with any CAN bus network such as NMEA2000.
