Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine E12208 linear hydraulic ram is a critical component for autopilot systems, designed specifically for vessels equipped with a 24 V electrical circuit. This type 2 model replaces the previous M81201 reference and provides steering by supplying the hydraulic force required to the tiller arm or quadrant.
Design and positioning in the Raymarine range
The E12208 stands out with its 24 V power supply, making it compatible with the electrical systems of larger vessels. Within the Raymarine range, it is positioned alongside the E12207 model, its 12 V equivalent, both being type 2 rams. For vessels requiring greater thrust power, Raymarine offers type 3 rams, such as the M81202 (12 V) and M81203 (24 V), which are intended for more demanding applications in terms of boat size and rudder load. The E12208 is therefore optimized for mechanical steering systems requiring intermediate thrust force, suitable for a wide range of sailboats and motorboats.
Installation and maintenance
Installing the E12208 ram requires mounting on a structure capable of withstanding considerable mechanical force, such as a substantial frame element of the vessel. Absolute cleanliness is crucial when handling the hydraulic system to prevent the entry of particles that could impair the operation of the check valves. The system allows manual disengagement of the unit in case of failure, facilitating maintenance or switching to manual mode. The connection is made to the route computer, following precise wiring guidelines to ensure EMC compliance and system performance.
