Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for extension and connection within Raymarine SeaTalk 1 networks, the Raymarine SeaTalk D230 40cm cable is an essential component for existing installations. This cable allows interconnection of instruments or extension of a SeaTalk 1 bus section over a short distance, ensuring communication between compatible devices. With a length of 400 mm, it is suitable for setups where equipment is closely spaced.
Connectivity and Positioning
The SeaTalk 1 system, although superseded by newer architectures such as SeaTalkNG (NMEA 2000 compatible) and SeaTalkhs (Ethernet), remains present on many vessels equipped with older-generation Raymarine instruments. The D230 cable serves as a maintenance and optimization solution for these systems. Unlike SeaTalkNG cables that use specific connectors and the NMEA 2000 protocol, the D230 is dedicated to the proprietary SeaTalk 1 interface, characterized by its simple three-wire wiring. It does not allow direct connection to NMEA 2000 networks without a specific converter, such as a SeaTalk to SeaTalkNG converter. This cable is therefore essential for maintaining or modifying a SeaTalk 1 network without requiring a complete overhaul of the electronic installation.
Integration and Functionality
Integrating the D230 cable into a SeaTalk 1 network is straightforward, as it is a direct extension. It ensures the transmission of navigation and instrumentation data between devices such as multifunction displays, autopilots, or SeaTalk 1-compatible wind and depth instruments. Its design prioritizes reliability in the marine environment, providing a dependable connectivity solution for boats whose onboard electronics rely on this proven Raymarine architecture.
