Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine SeaTalk NG starter kit (part number T70134) is the essential foundation for building a data network aboard your vessel. Designed to interconnect multifunction displays, navigation instruments, autopilots, and compatible sensors, this kit provides the initial infrastructure for a next-generation communication bus. SeaTalk NG is Raymarine’s proprietary protocol, electrically compatible with the NMEA 2000 standard but featuring robust, watertight connectors specifically suited to harsh marine environments.
Network composition and integration
This complete kit includes all necessary components to establish a functional backbone. It comprises a 5-way connection block for centralizing connections, two essential termination resistors to loop the network and prevent signal reflections, a power cable to supply connected devices, and a 1-meter spur cable for connecting your first piece of equipment. Unlike a simple assembly of standard NMEA 2000 T-connectors, the Raymarine 5-way block offers superior compactness and reduces the number of physical connections behind consoles, minimizing the risk of poor contacts.
Scalability and compatibility
The key advantage of the SeaTalk NG system lies in its high modularity. Once this starter kit is installed, the network can be easily expanded by adding blue backbone cables and additional connectors. Although it uses connectors exclusive to Raymarine, the system transmits standardized NMEA 2000 network frames. Integrating devices from other brands (such as Garmin or B&G) remains fully possible using SeaTalk NG to DeviceNet (Micro-C) adapter cables, ensuring total interoperability of your onboard electronics.
