Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine T120 wireless masthead sensor is a wind transducer designed to provide accurate wind speed and angle data to navigation instruments. It stands out for its simplified installation at the masthead, eliminating the need for complex cabling thanks to its wireless connectivity. This system is compatible with Raymarine displays, allowing immediate visualization of critical navigation information for sailing.
Installation and positioning
The T120 is intended to be mounted at the masthead, with the transducer head positioned forward and the vane precisely aligned with the boat's longitudinal axis. Installation requires drilling three 4 mm holes to secure the provided mounting bracket. The wind transducer is then inserted into this bracket and secured with a bolt. Initial calibration is required after installation to ensure the accuracy of apparent wind speed and angle measurements.
Maintenance and durability
The Raymarine T120 design includes user-replaceable components, including the vane, anemometer cups, and bearing assembly. This modularity enables easy maintenance and extends the sensor's lifespan. The T120 complies with FCC (Part 15) and Industry Canada (RSS) regulations, ensuring reliability in terms of emissions and immunity to interference. Unlike CPT-80 or CPT-120 transducers, which are through-hull depth sounders, the T120 is specifically an air wind sensor. It positions itself as an alternative to wired wind sensors, commonly found in instrument ranges from competing brands such as B&G or Garmin, offering increased installation flexibility for recreational sailboats.
