Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for precision RF applications, the RG223/U coaxial cable is a 50-ohm solution offering performance up to 6 GHz. This cable meets the requirements of MIL M17/194-00001 standard (formerly M17/84-RG223), attesting to its reliability in demanding environments. Its design includes a silver-plated copper center conductor of 0.88 mm, a polyethylene (PE) dielectric of 2.95 mm, and a double silver-plated copper braid shielding (96% at 3.6 mm, 94% at 4.2 mm), ensuring excellent shielding effectiveness of 85 dB across a frequency range from 0.0001 GHz to 1 GHz.
Electrical and Mechanical Specifications of RG223/U Cable
With an impedance of 50 Ω ±1Ω and a capacitance of 101 pF, the RG223/U coaxial cable ensures stable and fast signal transmission, with a propagation velocity of 66% and a delay of 5 ns/m. Its insulation resistance is 100,000,000 MΩ*m and the internal conductor resistance is 27.7 Ω/km. The cable is designed for a maximum operating voltage of 2.5 kV and a test voltage of 5 kV (50 Hz/1 min), making it suitable for various marine and industrial applications.
Mechanically, the cable weighs approximately 55 g/m and has a static bending radius of ≥ 30 mm and a repeated bending radius of 54 mm, providing flexibility for installation while maintaining structural integrity. The 5.4 mm diameter PVC II jacket (low migration, RAL 9005 - black) ensures protection against environmental stresses. The RG223/U coaxial cable operates within a temperature range of -25 °C to 85 °C and can be installed between -20 °C and 60 °C. It contains halogens, a characteristic to consider for specific fire safety standards.
Compared to cables like the RG58, the RG223/U stands out for its double shielding, which provides better immunity to electromagnetic interference and superior performance at higher frequencies, up to 6 GHz. This makes it a choice for systems requiring increased signal integrity, such as radars, advanced VHF/UHF communication systems, or high-speed data networks onboard. It is compatible with U9 cable group connectors.
