Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for marine navigation, the Simrad HALO 2004 radar is a 50W pulse compression system offering target detection equivalent to a 12KW magnetron radar. This solid-state technology enables instant activation from standby and in 16 to 25 seconds from full power. It detects targets from 6 meters to 72 nautical miles.
Technology and Performance
The HALO 2004 is typically paired with a 4-foot antenna, featuring a 1.8-degree beam width, which can be narrowed to 1.3 degrees in beam sharpening mode for improved target separation. VelocityTrack™ Doppler technology color-codes targets based on their movement (approaching or receding), aiding collision avoidance. The ZoneTrack™ function allows tracking up to 50 vessels within a defined area, with automatic detection of their course and speed.
Advanced Features for Safety and Navigation
This radar system supports simultaneous dual-range operation, enabling monitoring of two different scales, such as distant weather conditions and nearby navigation aids. Dangerous target alerts graphically display the range, bearing, and course of surrounding vessels. The HALO 2004 includes preset modes (Harbor, Offshore, Weather, Birds) requiring no manual adjustments. Its bird detection capability is useful for locating fish shoals. Advanced digital signal processing reduces sea clutter, while beam sharpening improves separation of small or distant targets. Low-power pulsed transmissions ensure safe operation in ports and marinas.
The pedestal measures 337.0 mm x 261 mm x 170 mm. The system is compatible with Simrad chartplotters from the NSS, NSX, NSO, and GO series. It is designed to withstand 80 knots of wind at 48 RPM. The HALO 2004 radar is engineered for simplified upgrades, sharing the same footprint as previous Halo radars.
