Detailed description
The VICTRON ENERGY 12V/165Ah deep-cycle AGM battery is designed for marine applications requiring reliable power and high-performance energy storage. This battery uses AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) technology with flat plates, known for its ability to withstand deep discharge cycles. It is suitable for powering onboard equipment, recharging, or service use.
Technical specifications and performance
With a nominal voltage of 12V and a capacity of 165Ah (C20), this battery weighs 47 kg and has dimensions of 485 x 172 x 240 mm (L x W x D). The connection terminals are M8 copper, ensuring stable electrical conductivity. To optimize its lifespan and performance, VICTRON ENERGY recommends specific charging voltages: absorption is 14.2 - 14.6 V in normal cycling and 14.6 - 14.9 V for fast charging. The float (maintenance) voltage is 13.5 - 13.8 V, while the standby voltage is 13.2 - 13.5 V. A temperature compensation of -24 mV/°C for a 12V battery is applied, with a compensation point at 25°C, to adapt charging to ambient conditions.
Durability and charge management
The nominal lifespan of this AGM battery in floating service is estimated between 7 and 10 years at 20°C. In cycling applications, it can reach 1500 cycles at 80% discharge. To prevent excessive gassing and extend battery life, Victron Energy has integrated the BatterySafe function. This technology slows the rise in charging voltage when the gassing threshold is reached, bringing internal pressure to a safe level. The battery's effective capacity is also influenced by the duration and intensity of discharge, decreasing with faster discharges at high currents.
