The Victron Energy Blue Smart IP67 Charger 12/17(1) is designed for charging and maintaining 12 V batteries in demanding environments. This 17 amp charger stands out with its fully encapsulated design, offering IP67 protection against water, oil, and dust. Its die-cast aluminum housing and electronics potted in resin ensure robustness suitable for marine or industrial conditions.
Smart charge management
Equipped with Bluetooth Smart technology, the Victron Energy Blue Smart IP67 12/17(1) charger allows remote monitoring of voltage and current, as well as parameter adjustments via the VictronConnect app. It features a 5-stage adaptive charging algorithm (bulk, absorption, reconditioning, float, storage) that optimizes the process based on battery usage. The storage mode reduces the float voltage to 13.2 V (for a 12 V battery) after 24 hours without discharge, minimizing gassing and corrosion of positive plates, with weekly equalization to prevent stratification and sulfation.
Performance and versatility
With an efficiency of 95%, this charger limits heat dissipation to a level three to four times lower than industry standards. Its standby power consumption is less than 1 watt (0.5 W), five to ten times better than average. The Blue Smart IP67 Charger 12/17(1) can recharge Li-ion batteries with a simplified bulk-absorption-float algorithm and includes a recovery function for fully discharged batteries, including Li-ion batteries with internal disconnect. Its overheat protection allows operation up to 60 °C, with output current reduction beyond 40 °C, without causing device failure. The 12/17 model serves as an intermediate solution in the Blue Smart IP67 12 V range, offering a 17 A charge current, higher than the 12/7 (7 A) and 12/13 (13 A) models, but lower than the 12/25 (25 A), making it suitable for battery banks of 14 to 225 Ah.
