Detailed description
Detailed description
The XSONIC Airmar B175M (0°) through-hull transducer is a 1 kW CHIRP transducer designed for mid to deep-water fishing environments. Specifically developed for fiberglass or wood hulls, this depth sounder provides depth and water temperature detection capabilities. It comes with an XSONIC Navico 9-pin connector and a 10-metre (33-foot) cable.
CHIRP Technology and Mid Frequency
The B175M transducer operates on a CHIRP mid-frequency range from 85 kHz to 135 kHz, offering a total bandwidth of 50 kHz. This CHIRP technology delivers superior resolution, displaying precise separation between baitfish and gamefish, as well as better distinction of underwater structures. The mid-frequency ensures deeper sounding capability than high frequencies while maintaining higher resolution than low frequencies, with a wider beam (16° to 11°) for increased coverage beneath the boat and clear images even at high speeds.
Tilted Element™ Design for Optimal Installation
The XSONIC Airmar B175M (0°) features Tilted Element™ design with a 0° tilted ceramic element inside the housing. This tilt corrects the hull deadrise angle (from 0° to 7°), ensuring the sonar beam is directed straight down to maximize echo returns. Its low-profile design protrudes only 6 mm below the hull, eliminating the need for fairing and making it compatible with trailerable or lifted boats. The bronze housing is recommended for fiberglass or wood hulls and must not be installed on aluminum hulls to avoid electrolytic corrosion. Installation requires a 95 mm (3-3/4 inches) hole and a minimum 178 mm (7 inches) of internal hull space.
Performance and Integration
With 1 kW of power, this transducer offers a maximum depth of 457 metres (1,500 feet). It provides clear and precise target and structure returns with good display resolution at high speeds when properly installed. Airmar’s patented Xducer ID® technology enables automatic recognition and configuration with compatible fishfinders, optimizing the system and continuously monitoring the ceramic element’s operating temperature. This transducer is recommended for boats up to 11 metres (36 feet). To extend its lifespan and maintain performance, applying an anti-fouling coating such as Foulfree is Airmar-certified without negatively impacting the transducer.
