Detailed description
The XSONIC Airmar M260 is a 1 kW transducer designed for conventional fishfinder systems. Its in-hull installation delivers high-performance detection without hull penetration, making it suitable for trailerable boats or hulls where drilling is undesirable. It is compatible exclusively with solid fiberglass hulls.
Detection capabilities and frequencies
This dual-frequency transducer operates at 50 kHz with a 19° beam and at 200 kHz with a 6° beam. The 50 kHz frequency provides deep-water detection down to 735 m (2,500 ft) with extended coverage beneath the boat. The 200 kHz frequency, with its narrow 6° beam, ensures precise target resolution and detailed images, ideal for locating fish near wrecks and reefs up to 294 m (1,000 ft).
Design and installation
The Airmar M260 features a plastic/urethane housing and an internal mounting tank secured inside the hull. This tank can be adjusted to accommodate a hull deadrise angle of up to 30° for optimal performance. The transducer incorporates seven ceramic elements for the 50 kHz frequency and a single element for 200 kHz. Weighing 6.2 kg, it is supplied with a 10 m (33 ft) cable and a black 9-pin connector. Xducer ID® technology is also integrated. It is recommended for sportfishing boats and commercial vessels from 8 m (25 ft) and up, with a maximum recommended length of 11 m (36 ft). This transducer is compatible with fishfinder modules such as the SonarHub and Simrad NSSevo3 multifunction displays.
