Detailed description
Detailed description
The XSONIC Airmar SS175M (20°) through-hull transducer is designed for detailed underwater detection and fish finding. With a power output of 1 kW and CHIRP compatibility, it uses a mid-frequency band to balance deep penetration and target resolution. This model features a 20° tilted element to compensate for hull deadrise angle, ensuring optimal beam orientation. Its stainless steel housing makes it compatible with all hull materials.
CHIRP technology and mid-frequency
This CHIRP transducer operates on a mid-frequency band from 85 kHz to 135 kHz, providing a total bandwidth of 50 kHz. This frequency range is selected to deliver a balance between deep range and target resolution. The variable beam width of 16° to 11° allows coverage beneath the boat and separation of targets in mid to deep waters, down to 457 meters (1,500 feet). It is also suited for precise performance in shallower waters, providing bottom detail and fish separation.
Tilted element design and installation
The SS175M (20°) incorporates Airmar’s Tilted Element™ design, where the ceramic element is tilted 20° inside the housing. This tilt is specifically adapted to hulls with a deadrise angle of 16° to 24°, allowing the transducer to be flush-mounted while directing the sonar beam vertically toward the bottom. The stainless steel housing is recommended for all hull types, including fiberglass, wood, and metal. Installation requires a 95 mm (3-3/4") hole for fiberglass or wood hulls, and a 105 mm (4-1/8") hole for metal hulls to accommodate the required isolation ring on the latter. The transducer measures depth and water temperature with fast response. It comes with a 10-meter (33-foot) cable and a 9-pin black connector, compatible with Navico, Lowrance, and Simrad systems. It is recommended for boats up to 11 meters (36 feet).
