Detailed description
Detailed description
The XSONIC Airmar SS75M (12°) is a through-hull CHIRP transducer with a tilted element, designed for depth detection and rapid water temperature measurement. This 600W RMS transducer operates on a mid-range CHIRP frequency band from 80 kHz to 130 kHz, providing a total bandwidth of 50 kHz. This CHIRP technology delivers 5 to 10 times improved bottom resolution, making it easier to distinguish baitfish, gamefish, and underwater structures.
Design and performance
With a depth capability of up to 274 meters (900 feet), the SS75M is suited for shallow to mid-depth applications. Its beam angle ranges from 24° to 16°. The 12° tilted ceramic element is specifically calibrated to compensate for hull trim angles between 8° and 15°, ensuring the sonar beam is directed straight to the bottom for optimal accuracy. The stainless steel housing ensures compatibility with all hull materials, including steel and aluminum, provided the supplied isolation ring is used for metal hulls to prevent electrolytic corrosion. The acoustic window is made of urethane.
Installation and compatibility
This model features a 9-pin xSonic connector and a 10-meter (33-foot) cable. Its low-profile housing reduces drag and contributes to high-resolution display at high speeds, making it suitable for small fishing boats, such as center consoles, typically up to 8 meters (25 feet) in length. For installation, a 70 mm (2-13/16") hole diameter is required for fiberglass or wood hulls, and 79 mm (3-1/8") for metal hulls. Airmar certifies that applying a Foulfree coating does not degrade transducer performance, providing marine fouling protection for continuous operation.
