EmpirBus: Digital switching and electrical supervision

EmpirBus is designed for vessel electrical installations that need to go beyond a simple switch panel. The goal is to centralize control, protection, and monitoring of circuits to manage lighting, pumps, auxiliaries, or certain technical equipment from a dedicated interface or a shipboard network.

Control and user interface

The EmpirBus WDU v2 is the public interface currently available in the range. It is used to control and visualize digital switching functions on an EmpirBus installation, with logic closer to a supervised electrical system than an isolated switch.

Distribution modules and inputs/outputs

An EmpirBus architecture can combine distribution modules, digital inputs, controlled outputs, configuration accessories, and dedicated connectors. These components allow placing modules closer to loads, reducing control wiring lengths, and documenting boat circuits more cleanly. The choice depends on the number of channels, vessel voltage, admissible current, and expected automation level.

Shipboard network and integration

EmpirBus becomes valuable when integrated with the rest of the electronics: communication bus, configuration interfaces, displays, I/O modules, and electrical distribution. To build a coherent installation, compare this collection with Data switching, I/O modules, Interfaces & bridges, Network accessories, Electronic cabling, Network cabling and Electrical systems.

Before choosing

Before ordering, identify the circuits to control, priority loads, necessary protections, control scenarios, and desired monitoring interfaces. An EmpirBus solution is sized like an electrical architecture: it must account for actual currents, maintenance constraints, module access, and the boat's future evolution.
