Interfaces & bridges: making onboard networks communicate

An interface or bridge translates data between two devices, two protocols or two networks. It is used to retrieve engine data, convert an NMEA stream, connect a computer, add Wi‑Fi monitoring or link an energy system to a control network.

Navigation, engine and NMEA

To integrate engine and control data into the Raymarine ecosystem, the ECI-100 Universal Engine & Control Interface links compatible networks. The wireless NMEA interface, the STNG to NMEA183 VHF converter kit, the DeviceNet to NMEA 0183 converter and the NMEA2000 Kit/interface cables cover conversion and connection needs between network generations.

Energy monitoring and Victron configuration

Victron interfaces are used to configure, monitor or connect energy equipment. The MK3-USB-C VE.Bus to USB-C and the VE.Direct to USB-C interface connect devices to a computer. The VE.Bus Smart dongle and the VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle add a mobile connection. For monitoring, the Cerbo GX MK2, Ekrano GX, Color Control GX and GlobalLink 520 centralize system information.

MasterBus, USB and extended network

On the Mastervolt side, the USB MasterBus interface and the MasterBus serial interface are used for exchanges with external systems. The MasterBus repeater extends the network, the PC-LINK with galvanic isolation secures serial links, and the MasterBus converter interface integrates compatible converters.

Actisense gateways

The Actisense gateways meet diagnostic and inter-network connection needs. The USG-2 NMEA0183 to USB interface connects an NMEA 0183 stream to a computer, the NMEA2000 to Wi‑Fi interface makes network data accessible wirelessly, and the bidirectional NMEA2000 / NMEA0183 interface links the two standards.
