Cabin lights: precise interior lighting for boats

Cabin lights provide daily lighting aboard: saloon, cabins, walkways, lockers, galley, chart table, or technical areas. They must deliver sufficient light for living, reading, stowing, and moving around without causing unnecessary glare or draining the battery bank too much. Selection therefore depends on visual comfort, installation type, and available voltage.

This collection includes ceiling lights, spots, bulkhead lights, linear lights, and LED panels for boat interiors. You’ll find recessed and surface-mounted models, warm white, neutral white, or red lighting, versions with built-in switches, as well as higher-output options for work areas or large volumes.

Surface-mounted bulkhead lights and linear lights

A surface-mounted bulkhead light is practical when you want to avoid cutting large holes or install a fixture on a bulkhead, under a cabinet, in a walkway, or in a technical area. The Kerguelen surface-mounted bulkhead light meets this need with an elongated format and lighting suited to areas requiring broader illumination than a simple spot.

Linear lights cover a linear zone: worktop, locker, walkway, locker, or under-cabinet area. The Lern surface-mounted linear light in neutral white with switch is suitable for direct mounting. For locker lighting, the BATZ LED locker light in warm white delivers targeted light in a compact space.

Ceiling lights, spots, and integrated lighting

Recessed ceiling lights are often used for general lighting in a cabin or saloon because they remain discreet once installed. This type of fixture requires checking the cutout diameter, available depth, and access to connections before drilling.

High-output lighting, panels, and work areas

For a saloon, galley, workshop, or large cabin, small spots may not suffice. LED panels provide wider, more even illumination. The Chausey 1800 lm neutral white 24 VDC and Chausey 3500 lm 24 VDC panel target high-lumen needs.

The ENEZ and GUERNESEY linear lights are useful for areas requiring directed or linear light. Light color and night use

Warm white is usually the most comfortable for cabins and living areas. Neutral white provides clearer reading in technical or work zones. Red is useful when you need to minimize night glare, especially near a companionway, chart table, or traffic area used during night watches.

If lighting must serve both day-to-day living and night navigation, choose a dual-color solution or separate circuits. Very bright lighting may be pleasant in harbor but too harsh in the middle of the night. The right system should let you turn on only what’s necessary.

Installation and ordering

Before selecting, check available voltage, power draw, circuit protection, installation type, and control. A built-in switch works for an independent cabin; centralized control is better for a saloon or walkway with multiple lights. For surface-mounted fixtures, ensure clean cable runs; for recessed fixtures, verify depth and future access.
