Designed for comprehensive navigation on the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway, the C-MAP GREAT LAKES & ST. LAWRENCE SEAWAY-4D electronic charting solution is available on SD or microSD card. It specifically covers the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence Seaway, and includes 130 lakes in Canada, primarily in Ontario.
Detailed Charting and Multiple Views
This charting combines comprehensive vector data with dynamic raster maps. Vector charts provide precise details on depth zones, contour lines, spot soundings, navigation aids, light sectors, wrecks/obstructions, and facilities for small craft. Users can customize the display of data layers. Dynamic raster maps allow traditional paper map views to be overlaid on vector data for additional navigational reference.
The system supports 2D and 3D views. The 3D view presents three-dimensional models of land elevation and seabed contours, improving situational awareness. High-resolution satellite imagery is integrated for coastal visual reference, helping to identify docks, piers, and other structures.
Advanced Features for Navigation and Fishing
The Easy Routing function automatically calculates the shortest and safest route between two points, providing guidance for each route segment and avoiding obstacles, shallow waters, and hazardous areas.
For fishing activities, the charting includes high-resolution bathymetry (HRB), offering detailed information on pinnacles, ledges, and underwater canyons. Sport fishing-specific data, including wreck and reef information, may be available as additional unlockable online data.
Tide and current forecasts, with interactive graphs and current arrows, help determine optimal times for navigation and fishing. Detailed marina plans from the C-Marina Port database and aerial photos of harbor entrances, channels, and marinas facilitate docking maneuvers.
Integration and Updates
A Guardian alarm system allows setting alerts for rocks, obstructions, and shallow depths. The charting supports multi-language display. Continuous updates are offered, with one year of daily free updates often included, and the ability to unlock online updates. The system allows future expansion with data segments and additional features, such as high-resolution bathymetry and sport fishing data, which can be activated online.
This C-MAP charting is compatible with chartplotters from manufacturers such as Furuno, Humminbird, Raymarine, and Standard Horizon.
