Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin GPSMAP® 1022 is a 10-inch chartplotter designed for marine navigation, offering advanced video integration capabilities and an intuitive user interface. This model is positioned as a robust and versatile solution within Garmin’s GPSMAP range, distinguished by its monitoring and tracking features. Unlike older series or specific models such as the 8000, 8200, 8500, 7x1, 7400, and 7600, the GPSMAP® 1022 natively integrates a video encoder function, enabling the sharing of composite video streams across the entire Garmin marine network.
Integration and video capabilities
This chartplotter is optimized for integration with third-party network cameras, including FLIR M and MD series thermal cameras, as well as Garmin GC™ 14 (010-02667-00) and GC™ 200 (010-02164-00) cameras. It allows simultaneous viewing of up to five video sources for optimal network performance, and supports configuring split screens to display multiple streams. The touch interface provides precise camera control, with pinch gestures for zooming and swipe gestures for panning and tilting. Custom presets (position, zoom) can be saved for each camera. Integrating any standard Ethernet equipment requires the use of a Garmin PoE isolation coupler (010-10580-10) to protect the marine network.
Advanced tracking features
The GPSMAP® 1022 supports sophisticated camera tracking functions to enhance situational awareness. It allows locking onto a fixed compass heading (Compass Lock) or a fixed angle relative to the vessel (Vessel Lock). Additionally, it can track AIS targets, MARPA targets, or waypoints (slew-to-cue). To activate these functions, the system requires the connection of specific sensors via the Garmin marine network or NMEA 2000, including a GPS antenna, a heading sensor (ideally 9-axis for yaw, pitch, and roll), a compatible AIS receiver, and a compatible radar device.
Design and installation
With flush-mount dimensions of 305 mm (width) by 172.7 mm (height) and a cutout of 304.3 mm (width) by 166.1 mm (height), the GPSMAP® 1022 is designed for discreet and robust integration. Mounting points are precisely positioned at 6 mm (1/4 in) and 3.2 mm (1/8 in) from the edges, with a diameter of 3.6 mm (9/64 in).
