Designed for the marine environment, the JL Audio M3-770X-S-Gw 7.7-inch 2-way coaxial speakers deliver clear, powerful sound outdoors. These speakers are optimized for infinite baffle installation, allowing flexible mounting without requiring a dedicated enclosure, with a recommended air volume of at least 57 litres (2 cubic feet) behind each speaker for optimal low-frequency performance.
Design and Acoustic Performance
The woofer features an injection-molded polypropylene cone with mica loading and a synthetic rubber surround, ensuring durability and precise response. The 0.75-inch (3/4") pure silk dome tweeter is treated for marine conditions. The woofer’s large excursion design benefits from JL Audio’s exclusive Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA), resulting in improved bass extension, higher power handling, and reduced distortion. Each speaker includes a passive 2-way crossover integrated into the woofer basket, featuring a polyswitch semiconductor tweeter protection circuit.
Marine Durability and Technical Specifications
The JL Audio M3-770X-S-Gw are designed for marine use and exceed international standards for salt fog and UV resistance. They handle 70 watts RMS continuous power and 225 watts peak power. Recommended amplifier power ranges from 20 to 140 watts per channel (RMS). The frequency response extends from 45 Hz to 25,000 Hz (± 3 dB) with a sensitivity of 90.5 dB at 1W/1m and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms. The cutout diameter is approximately 159 mm (6.25 inches), and the mounting depth is approximately 80 mm (3.15 inches). The outer frame diameter is 196 mm (7.70 inches). They are supplied with bright white "Sport" grilles. A variant of this model includes integrated RGB LED lighting, allowing up to seven fixed colors or thousands of variations with an optional RGB controller (sold separately), requiring separate 12V wiring and a 150 mA inline fast fuse for each speaker.
