Designed for luxury marine installations, the JL Audio M6-650X-L-GwSw-Single 6.5-inch flush-mount coaxial marine speaker delivers high-performance audio. This 2-way model features a 165 mm woofer with injection-molded polypropylene cone filled with mica, equipped with a synthetic rubber surround. The 20 mm treated silk dome tweeter is specifically formulated to withstand saltwater environments, incorporating a neodymium magnet and Ferrofluid cooling.
Audio Performance and Marine Durability
With a continuous power handling (RMS) of 75 Watts and a recommended amplifier power of 25 to 150 Watts per channel, the M6-650X-L-GwSw-Single ensures clear sound reproduction. Its nominal impedance is 4 ohms, and it offers a frequency response of 55 Hz to 25 kHz (± 3 dB) with a system efficiency of 89.5 dB @ 1W/1m. The integrated 2-way passive multi-order crossover is housed in the woofer frame for vibration and corrosion protection, ensuring precise phase alignment and balanced acoustic blending between the woofer and tweeter.
Design and Integration
The speaker is optimized for infinite baffle use, allowing installation in various configurations without requiring a dedicated enclosure. Its low-profile design includes a discreet mounting ring and tweeter bridge, minimizing protrusion into cabin space to just 0.37 inches (9 mm) from the mounting surface. The woofer incorporates JL Audio’s Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA) technology, optimizing excursion for improved output, bass extension, and power handling while reducing distortion. The semiconductor-based automatic tweeter protection circuit reduces failure risk. The construction uses UV- and corrosion-resistant polymer basket and grille, ensuring durability in harsh marine environments. The cutout diameter is 6.75 inches (172 mm), the frame outer diameter is 8.34 inches (212 mm), and the mounting depth is 3.87 inches (98 mm). M6 speakers are manufactured at JL Audio’s Miramar, Florida facility using globally sourced components and materials.
