Designed for demanding marine environments, the JL Audio M6-650X-L-SbSb 6.5-inch coaxial marine speaker delivers high-fidelity audio. This 2-way model features a continuous RMS power rating of 75 watts and a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, making it compatible with recommended amplification of 25 to 150 watts per channel. Its frequency response spans 55 Hz to 25 kHz (± 3 dB), with an efficiency of 89.5 dB at 1 W / 1 m.
Acoustic design and marine durability
The M6-650X-L-SbSb integrates a long-excursion DMA-optimized woofer with an injection-molded polypropylene cone with mica and a synthetic rubber surround. This design ensures efficient power handling, precise transient response, and extended bass. The 0.8-inch (4/5") silk dome tweeter is treated specifically to resist saltwater environments. The passive crossover network, housed within the woofer frame, is optimized and protected against vibration and corrosion. A semiconductor-based electronic protection circuit monitors the tweeter’s current to minimize failure risk.
Durability and aesthetic integration
This speaker is certified for marine use, exceeding industry standards for salt spray and UV exposure resistance, ensuring long-term durability. The speaker basket is made from UV-resistant polymer, encapsulating the woofer motor system to prevent corrosion. For installation, it is optimized for infinite baffle operation and has a mounting depth of 98 mm (3.87 inches). The cutout diameter is 172 mm (6.75 inches), and the outer frame diameter is 212 mm (8.34 inches). The low-profile satin black Luxe grille, with a 9 mm (0.37 inch) front protrusion, allows discreet integration into cabin spaces. JL Audio’s M6 series speakers are manufactured at the Miramar, Florida facility using globally sourced components and materials.
