Designed for 24 V marine electrical systems, the JL Audio MHD900/5-24V marine amplifier is a five-channel Class D solution delivering a total power output of 900 W. It features patented Single Cycle Control™ technology for accurate sound amplification and reduced current draw. This model is suitable for driving a complete high-performance marine audio system.
Advanced Technologies for Marine Performance
The MHD900/5-24V incorporates Single Cycle Control™ technology, which corrects the audio signal more than 400,000 times per second, ensuring precise amplification, reduced heat, and lower power consumption. Its R.I.P.S. (Regulated, Intelligent Power Supply) power supply optimizes output for load impedances from 1.5 to 4 ohms per channel, delivering stable power across a wide range of vessel voltages and minimizing distortion. The amplifier maintains 80% efficiency at half nominal power, contributing to its compact size.
Power and Configuration Flexibility
This amplifier delivers continuous (RMS) power of 100 watts x 4 main channels at 4 ohms (22–29 V) or 75 watts x 4 at 1.5 to 3 ohms (22–29 V). The subwoofer channel provides 500 watts x 1 at 1.5 to 4 ohms (22–29 V). The main channels can be bridged for 200 watts RMS x 2 at 8 ohms or 150 watts RMS x 2 at 3–6 ohms. The frequency response is 12 Hz to 28 kHz for the main channels and 12 Hz to 10 kHz for the subwoofer channel. Total harmonic distortion (THD) is less than 0.03% for the front/rear channels and less than 0.05% for the subwoofer, both at nominal power under 4 ohms. Variable high-pass (50–500 Hz, 12 or 24 dB/octave) and low-pass (50–500 Hz, 12 or 24 dB/octave) filters, along with a switchable subsonic filter (30 Hz, 24 dB/octave) on the subwoofer, enable precise integration. The signal-to-noise ratio is 108 dBA at nominal power and 88 dBA at 1 watt.
Robust Design and Simplified Integration
The JL Audio MHD900/5-24V is engineered for the marine environment with white and gray powder finishes, a sealed control cover, and stainless steel hardware. It exceeds international standards for salt spray and UV resistance. The RealSink™ Heat Management system, featuring cast-alloy heat sink fins and an innovative circuit design, prevents thermal shutdown. Differential-balanced inputs eliminate onboard electrical noise, accepting both preamp-level and speaker-level signals. Removable power and speaker terminals simplify installation in confined spaces. Dimensions are 4.9 cm height, 27.3 cm width, and 19.9 cm depth (up to 24.1 cm), with a weight of 3.1 kg. Recommended fuse protection is 30A (AFS, AGU, or MaxiFuse™).
