Detailed description
Designed for marine and automotive environments, the JL Audio XDM1000/5 is a 5-channel Class D amplifier. It delivers a total RMS power of 1000 watts, capable of powering a complete audio system with satellite speakers and a subwoofer.
Power and architecture
The XDM1000/5 amplifier features NexD™ switching Class D amplification architecture. It provides RMS power of 75 watts x 4 channels + 400 watts x 1 channel at 4 ohms, or 100 watts x 4 channels + 600 watts x 1 channel at 2 ohms. In bridged mode, it delivers 200 watts RMS x 2 channels at 4 ohms + 600 watts RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohms. The minimum impedance load is 2 ohms in stereo mode and 4 ohms in bridged mode for channels 1 to 4, and 2 ohms for the mono subwoofer channel.
Audio processing and connectivity
The filtering system includes variable high-pass filters for channels 1 and 2 (50-500 Hz, 12 dB/octave) with a x10 multiplier for a range of 500-5000 Hz. Channels 3 and 4 feature variable high-pass or band-pass filters (50-500 Hz, 12 dB/octave). The subwoofer channel is equipped with a low-pass filter (50-500 Hz, 12 or 24 dB/octave). The unit can be configured as an active 3-way crossover. The differential balanced inputs reduce noise, and the input sensitivity accepts up to 4 Vrms for speaker-level inputs. The unit features automatic turn-on via signal detection or DC offset, and is compatible with optional HD-RLC or MHD-RLC remote level controllers.
Construction and installation
The XDM1000/5 is built to marine standards with a black powder-coated finish, a sealed control cover, and stainless-steel hardware. For safety, an 80A fuse is required on the main power cable, installed within 45 cm of the battery’s positive terminal. Power wiring requires 4 AWG cable.
