The JL Audio M3-650VeX-Gw-S-Gw-i marine tower speakers are designed to deliver high-performance audio in marine and off-road environments. These 6.5-inch (165 mm) coaxial 2-way speakers are housed in robust, injection-molded VeX Pod enclosures for clear, powerful outdoor sound reproduction.
Design and Audio Performance
Each M3-650VeX-Gw-S-Gw-i speaker features a 6.5-inch woofer with an injected polypropylene cone loaded with mica and a synthetic rubber surround, paired with a 0.75-inch (19 mm) silk dome tweeter. The coaxial design includes a passive 2-way crossover integrated into the woofer basket. These speakers have a nominal impedance of 4 ohms and a frequency response of 100 Hz to 25 kHz (± 3 dB), with a sensitivity of 89.5 dB at 1 W/1 m. They handle a continuous RMS power of 60 watts per speaker and a peak power of 225 watts. The recommended RMS amplifier power is 20 to 120 watts per channel.
Marine Durability and Integrated Lighting
The M3-650VeX-Gw-S-Gw-i construction is optimized for marine durability, with UV- and corrosion-resistant polymer baskets and grilles, along with synthetic rubber surrounds. JL Audio products undergo rigorous testing, including UV and salt spray exposure. A multicolor RGB LED lighting system is integrated into the Sport grille frame, providing accent lighting. An optional RGB controller, such as the JL Audio MLC-RW or RFRGBMC (sold separately), allows color customization. LED specifications include a current draw of 108 mA at 12V DC, with a recommended 150 mA fuse and a voltage range of 10 to 14.4V DC.
Installation and Aesthetics
The speakers feature a rotating clamp receiver, requiring JL Audio mounting hardware (sold separately) for flexible installation and precise aiming. Each speaker comes with ten feet of 16AWG marine-grade 6-conductor multifunction cable for audio and lighting connections. The aesthetic is enhanced by a rear Lexan™ weather-resistant logo appliqué, which is adjustable to fit various mounting positions. For optimal performance, these speakers should be paired with an amplifier capable of delivering 60 to 120W of continuous power per channel and a subwoofer.
