Designed for high-performance marine audio integration, the JL Audio M6-8IB-S-GmTi-i-4 8-inch (200 mm) subwoofer delivers powerful and precise low-frequency reproduction. Optimized for infinite baffle (free-air) applications, it can also be installed in sealed or ported enclosures. Its design allows for 14 mm linear excursion (Xmax), ensuring dynamic response even at high sound levels.
Marine-grade construction and durability
This subwoofer is specifically engineered for marine environments, using corrosion- and UV-resistant materials. It features a polymer basket, UV-resistant grille, and gold-plated marine-grade binding posts. The marine-grade synthetic fiber spider enhances its robustness. The JL Audio M6-8IB-S-GmTi-i-4 exceeds international standards for salt fog and UV exposure, ensuring extended longevity. The M6 series is manufactured at JL Audio’s factory in Miramar, Florida.
Integrated RGB LED Transflective™ lighting
The subwoofer is equipped with JL Audio’s patented RGB LED Transflective™ lighting technology, which diffuses even light through the woofer cone without visible hotspots. The cone retains a silver appearance when the LEDs are off. Users can select from several fixed lighting colors. For advanced control and thousands of color variations, an RGB controller is available separately. Each speaker location requires a separate 12 V wiring run for the LED function, and a 750 mA fast-blow fuse must be installed on the positive power lead at the power source end to protect the LEDs and speaker from excessive current.
Technical specifications and installation
With a 200-watt RMS power handling and a nominal 4-ohm impedance, this subwoofer offers 86.7 dB sensitivity. The woofer cone is made of mica-injected polypropylene, with a synthetic rubber surround. Its free-air resonance frequency (Fs) is 54.92 Hz. For installation, a 7.375-inch (18.73 cm) cutout diameter and a 5-inch (12.7 cm) mounting depth are required. For infinite baffle applications, a minimum air volume of 1.0 to 1.5 cubic feet (28.3 to 42.5 liters) is needed behind the subwoofer. Amplifier power recommendations range from 50 to 200 watts. The grille and Metallic/Titanium Sport finish trim ring are removable for easy customization.
