Detailed description
Detailed description
The SolidSwitch 104 by Victron Energy is a solid-state switch designed to switch continuous DC loads up to 70V/4A. It stands out for its ability to be controlled by a low-power digital signal (3.3V < Vin < 70V), offering flexibility for integration into various embedded systems. This device is compatible with resistive, capacitive, or inductive loads, such as power contactor coils, with maximum capacities specified by voltage (e.g., 1000 µF up to 15V) and current (e.g., 1000 mH up to 1A).
Minimal Parasitic Consumption for Lithium Systems
The main advantage of the SolidSwitch 104 lies in its extremely low current consumption, around 0.04 Ah per month. This feature is critical for lithium battery systems, where reducing parasitic loads is essential to preserve autonomy. For comparison, a small electromechanical relay can consume between 10 and 22 Ah per month, representing a 250-fold reduction in consumption with the SolidSwitch 104. This performance makes it a preferred solution over traditional relays for energy-sensitive applications.
Strategic Applications and System Integration
The SolidSwitch 104 is ideal for several key applications. It can control an external alternator regulator, such as those from Balmar or Mastervolt Alpha Pro, within a Victron lithium system, in response to a BMS alarm. It can also be used to switch low-power DC loads, such as lighting, or to increase the number of chargers that can be connected to the ATC (allow-to-charge) output of a Victron BMS. Its robust ABS matte black design and IP20 protection rating ensure reliability in an operating environment from -20 to +50°C.
