A giant born from transformation

Actual Leader has its origins in the legendary Géronimo, the trimaran built by Olivier de Kersauson in 2001 by the Multiplast shipyard. Bought in 2013 by Thomas Coville and renamed Sodebo Ultim’, the boat underwent 14 months of major transformations at Multiplast in Vannes. The central hull was lengthened by 3 meters to reach 31 meters, foils and rudders were added to the floats, and the entire structure was lightened by 6 tons. At the end of 2018, the Actual Group acquired this trimaran and entrusted it to skipper Yves Le Blévec, who renamed it Actual Leader after 6 months of modifications.

Technical characteristics and innovations

The Actual Leader trimaran complies with the Ultim 32/23 gauge with a maximum length of 32 meters and a beam of 23 meters. Evolved from the transformation of Géronimo, this platform benefits from the expertise of the VPLP Design firm for naval architecture, with structures designed by HDS (Hervé Devaux Structures) and GSEA Design. The floats were equipped with new "Dreadnought" type bows and foils allowing the boat to fly above the water. The mast and boom were also modernized during the transformation carried out by Multiplast, resulting in a significantly more efficient boat than the original Géronimo.

Record with Actual Leader

Under the Actual Leader colors, Yves Le Blévec and his crew participated in the major races of the Ultim class. In June 2019, the trimaran competed in the Armen Race, finishing behind Sodebo Ultim 3 and Edmond de Rothschild. During the Rolex Fastnet Race in August 2019, Actual Leader ranked behind the same rivals. In December 2019, the boat secured a fine third place in the Brest Atlantiques with a crew composed of Yves Le Blévec, Alex Pella, and Ronan Gladu. In 2021, the boat was sold to the Brest-based company Brest Ultim Sailing, marking the end of the Actual Leader adventure after the Actual group acquired the Macif 100 to continue its commitment in the Ultim class.
