Foundation and trajectory
JMV Industries was founded on September 21, 1992 byJean-Marie Vaur in Tourlaville (a delegated commune of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, 51 rue de la Bretonnière). Initially an independent yard, it specialized in building racing sailboats using carbon-Nomex pre-preg and epoxy composites. It was later absorbed as a subsidiary by Constructions Mécaniques de Normandie (CMN).
Jean-Marie Vaur left management at the end of 2012, replaced by Pierre Balmer on December 31, 2012. The yard was put into sleep mode in November 2012 and remained dormant for ten years. CMN, by then the sole shareholder, officially dissolved the company on February 7, 2023.
Specialty
Construction of Open 60 / IMOCA racing monohulls using carbon-Nomex pre-preg and epoxy, and manufacturing structural components (center hulls, floats) for record-breaking multihulls. Approximately 19 racing sailboats built by the yard over 20 years. Recurring partnerships with naval architecture firms Finot-Conq, Philippe Briand and VPLP Design.
