Basile Bourgnon
Former skipper of Edenred 5 at age 23, after two seasons at the top of the Figaro
Basile Bourgnon, born May 3, 2002, is the official skipper of the Ocean Fifty Edenred 5 since March 23, 2026. He took the helm of the trimaran after the 2025 season sailed double-handed with Emmanuel Le Roch, who now runs the Edenred Sailing Team ashore. Son of Laurent Bourgnon, trained at the Pôle Finistère Course au Large, Basile progressed through the Mini circuit then the Figaro Bénéteau 3 before switching to multihulls.
Two Solitaires du Figaro in the top 7
In 2023, for his second Solitaire du Figaro Paprec, Basile finished 2nd overall, 10 min 52 s behind Corentin Horeau on Banque Populaire. The following year, he placed 7th in the 2024 edition won by Tom Dolan. These two Figaro seasons served as a springboard before the move to Ocean Fifty with Le Roch.
Café L'Or Transat 2025: six days in the lead, port rudder failure
In the Café L'Or Transat 2025, Basile and Emmanuel Le Roch led the Ocean Fifty fleet aboard Edenred 5 for six days. On November 4 at 00:05, the port rudder linkage bar and the mainsail leech batten failed. The duo finished 5th in 12 days 10 hours 6 minutes 6 seconds, 4 hours 41 minutes behind the winner Viabilis Océan. A few weeks earlier, in the 24h Ultim 2025 (September 28), they had won the Ocean Fifty class in their first race together (339.4 nautical miles at 12.88 knots average).
Heading for the Route du Rhum 2026
Edenred 5 was launched in summer 2025, then relaunched after refit on March 23, 2026. Basile took sole control of the helm. The team's stated goal is the Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe 2026 in Ocean Fifty.
