Fabrice Amédéo

Fabrice Amedeo is a French skipper in the IMOCA class, born on February 24, 1978. A former political journalist at Le Figaro, he switched to offshore racing in the 2010s and completed his first Vendée Globe in 2016-2017 (11th).

He is competing in the Vendée Globe 2024-2025 aboard the IMOCA Nexans-WeWise (FDJ United). 2026 schedule: Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe.

Since 2019, Amedeo has carried the Ocean Calling mission: his IMOCA carries oceanographic sensors (CO₂, salinity, temperature, microplastics, environmental DNA) and transmits data to partner institutes — Ifremer, CNRS, University of Bordeaux. Scientific data collection has become a guiding principle of his sporting project.

Achievements: 9th Route du Rhum 2014 (Class40), 2nd Transat Saint-Barth – Port-la-Forêt 2015, 11th Vendée Globe 2016-2017, finisher Vendée Globe 2024-2025, multiple Transat Jacques Vabre top 15 finishes in IMOCA.
