Detailed description
The WS320 Wireless Wind Package with B&G Interface is a high-performance measurement solution designed for cruising and racing. This package provides highly accurate and responsive wind data, equivalent to that of the WS310 wired sensor, while eliminating the need to run a cable through the mast. The package includes the WS320 wind sensor and a Bluetooth interface that connects directly to your NMEA 2000 network for easy integration with your navigation instruments and multifunction displays.
Data performance and accuracy
Validated by over 500 wind tunnel tests and 200,000 hours of real-world testing, the WS320 sensor guarantees maximum reliability and accuracy. It transmits apparent wind data (speed and angle) at a frequency of 5 Hz (5 times per second). Wind speed measurement accuracy is +/- 0.1 m/s (0.2 kt) over a range of 1 to 40 m/s, with a resolution of 0.05 m/s (0.1 knot). Wind angle accuracy is +/- 0.5° with a resolution of 0.1°. The speed measurement range extends from 0.25 to 50 m/s (0.5 to 97 knots).
Installation and wireless connectivity
The WS320 sensor mounts to the top of the mast without a data cable, simplifying installation and reducing weight at height. Power is supplied by an integrated solar panel and an internal battery. Communication with the base station is via Bluetooth, with a range of up to 30 meters. The included base station connects to the NMEA 2000 network via a Micro-C connector, with a 9-16 V DC power supply and a power consumption of 1.2 W (<100 mA at 12 V). Its network load is 2 LENs. The package includes a 1.8 m NMEA 2000 cable and a Micro-C T-connector for complete installation.
Design and robustness
Designed for marine environments, the WS320 sensor weighs 0.32 kg and features dual IPX6 and IPX7 waterproofing. Its operating temperature range is -25°C to 65°C. The base station is also IPX7 waterproof and operates from -25°C to +60°C. The complete package includes the WS320 wind sensor, the Bluetooth base station, a mast bracket, the necessary screws, the battery, a 1.8 m NMEA 2000 cable, and a Micro-C T-connector.
